MISSION:
The mission of the Bereavement Ministry is to provide compassion and spiritual support to families during their time of grieving.
PURPOSE:
To facilitate and coordinate the funeral services held at the Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church.
To ensure the appropriate ministries are informed when funeral services are needed.
To attend funeral and repast services and provide assistance to bereaved families as needed.

BEREAVEMENT GUIDELINES FOR ACTIVE MEMBERS OR THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILY
An immediate family member is a husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, sibling, stepparent, or stepchild. Consideration of additional family members will be at the discretion of the Pastor and/or the Bereavement Ministry.
The Ninth Street Baptist Church Bylaws will be used to determine the membership status of the deceased and/or their immediate family member.

Active church members will have full use of the church facilities and respective ministries at no charge.

The Funeral Notification form must be completed with as much information as possible to start the bereavement coordination process.

Once the form is completed and submitted, a member of the Bereavement Ministry will contact the appropriate individual to begin the coordination of services.

The family should coordinate with the Pastor or Minister and the funeral home Director to ensure the availability of the church facilities.

A Celebration of Life service template can be provided to the family, if requested.

The family is responsible for the honorarium provided to the Pastor, Minister or Musician.

On the day of the visitation and/or funeral service, a member of the Bereavement Ministry will be available to assist the family as needed.
Repast for Active Members or their Immediate Family

There is a 70-person limit for repasts.
-
Repasts will last a maximum of two hours from the time the family returns from the graveyard, when applicable.

If there is no graveside service, the two hours will start from the end of the funeral service.

The repast meal will include an entrée, vegetable, starch, salad, dinner roll and beverage.

The addition of extra food or decorations must be approved by the Bereavement and/or Culinary Ministries.
BEREAVEMENT GUIDELINES FOR MEMBERS NOT IN GOOD STANDING OR NON-MEMBERS
The Ninth Street Baptist Church Bylaws will be used to determine the membership status of the deceased and/or their immediate family member.

There is a $250 fee for the use of the church facilities and respective ministries. (Audio/Video and Custodial services)

If the family does not agree to pay the $250 fee and sign the Bereavement Ministry Facility Usage Agreement, the funeral service will not occur at Ninth Street Baptist Church unless approved by the Pastor.

The Bereavement Ministry Facility Usage Agreement must be completed and signed by a responsible family member and the fee must be received at least 24 hours before the funeral service date.

The Funeral Notification form must be completed with as much information as possible to start the bereavement coordination process.

Once the form is completed and submitted, a member of the Bereavement Ministry will contact the appropriate individual to begin the coordination of services.

The family should speak with the funeral home Director and the Pastor or Minister to ensure the availability of the necessary facilities.

Repast for Members Not in Good Standing or Non-Members

There is a $250 fee for the food, setting up, cleaning up and staff.

The fee must be paid 24 hours before the service along with the facility usage fee.

There is a 60-person limit for the repast.

Repasts will last a maximum of two hours from the time the family returns from the graveside service.

If no graveside service occurs, the two hours will begin immediately after the service has ended.

The repast meal will include an entrée, vegetable, starch, salad, dinner roll and beverage.

Resolutions
-
Resolutions are provided for active members of the Ninth Street Baptist Church.
-
A resolution copy will be provided to the contact person identified on the Funeral Notification Form.

Resolutions for community members, members not in good standing or non-members will be prepared at the discretion of the Pastor.
